Bahrain and Egypt have renewed their shared commitment to strengthen their historic relations in support of mutual interests.
The progress of these ties topped the agenda as His Majesty King Hamad held talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi in Cairo yesterday.
The leaders also discussed co-ordination in response to regional developments and exchanged views on ongoing efforts to address them.
The King commended President Al Sisi’s role in strengthening the strategic partnership between Bahrain and Egypt and wished Egypt and its people continued progress.
He noted that the bond continues to grow stronger through the commitment and shared will of the two countries.
His Majesty expressed appreciation to President Al Sisi for Egypt’s support and solidarity with Bahrain over the measures taken by the kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability.
He also stressed Bahrain’s condemnation of the attack on Egypt’s Damietta Port and expressed the kingdom’s full solidarity with Egypt and support for the measures taken to protect its sovereignty, security and vital facilities.
President Al Sisi described His Majesty’s visit as a reflection of the deep-rooted relations across various domains.
The Egyptian leader also reiterated his country’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain and emphasised Cairo’s support for the measures taken by the kingdom to protect its security.
The King and President Al Sisi stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to promote peace, security and stability across the region.
The meeting was attended by His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and National Security Adviser Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa; the King’s adviser for media affairs Nabeel Al Hamer; adviser to the King on diplomatic affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa; Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and senior officials.
