Saudi Arabia revealed on Monday that it is pushing a regional mediation to avoid embarrassment in Yemen again. This coincides with anticipation of the return of the Yemeni delegation that participated in the funeral ceremonies of the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

The Saudi military expert Ahmed Al-Fifi hinted in a tweet on his official social media page that the mediation includes an offer for the Yemeni delegation to return, but on a non-Iranian aircraft.
The delegation is expected to return in the coming days.
An Iranian aircraft belonging to “Mahan Air” transported the delegation last weekend.
The flight caused major embarrassment for Saudi Arabia, especially after its attempt to intercept the aircraft was foiled by Yemeni forces.
Sana’a preempted the delegation’s return by hinting at war if Saudi Arabia attempted to intercept its return.
Saudi Arabia’s activation of a regional mediation, likely Omani, indicates its attempt to save face only.
Saudi Arabia is currently facing the largest wave of escalation in Yemen, especially with Yemen raising the ceiling to the level of lifting the siege by land and sea.
