The investigative authorities in Ismailia have decided to refer the accused in the case of killing his colleague and dismembering the body with an electric saw to the Juvenile Criminal Court. The first hearing of the trial is scheduled for November 25.
In a previous development, the authorities decided to renew the detention of a mobile phone shop owner for an additional 15 days in connection with the murder of a schoolboy. This is the second time his detention has been extended.
Similarly, the father of the accused has also had his detention renewed for another 15 days. This extension comes amid ongoing investigations regarding the murder of the young victim.
Over a month of inquiries, the Ismailia Prosecution has continued to investigate the crime. The primary suspect, a 14-year-old named Yusuf, confessed to committing the act and reenacted the incident for the prosecutors. The suspect explained that a dispute had arisen between him and the victim, which led him to lure the victim to a residence in the new station area.
There, he attacked the victim with a metal hammer to the neck and head, followed by multiple stabbings with a large knife. The suspect further disclosed that he dismembered the body into six parts, including the legs, arms, and torso, in an effort to conceal the evidence of his crime.
Details emerging from the case have been enhanced by Abdullah Watani, a lawyer involved in the prosecution’s investigation. He revealed that upon discovering the crime, the father of the accused attempted to erase any evidence, washing away blood stains and cleaning the carpet. Additionally, he provided his son with money to purchase more bags intended for disposing of the body, leading the prosecution to formally accuse him of hiding the crime’s traces.
The prosecution continues to interrogate several witnesses, predominantly family members, to ensure a thorough investigation into all potential accomplices in the crime. The authorities are focusing on pinpointing the exact roles of those aware of the events that transpired in the residence.
Watani also discussed his interaction with the accused, stating that during their conversation at the prosecution office, the suspect admitted his motivation for the crime was a desire for fame and recognition, a reflection of a disturbing lack of empathy and responsibility.
Throughout the investigation, the accused exhibited a notable level of detachment, even correcting the prosecutors during his reenactment of the crime as if relishing the opportunity to recreate the scene. This behavior highlights a troubling numbness to the horrific act he committed.
During the reenactment, the accused offered the prosecutor a calculator found at the crime scene as a gift, later revealing that it belonged to the victim himself. This detail further amplifies the grotesque nature of the incident.
Watani disclosed how meticulously the accused planned the murder, luring the victim under the pretense of returning a stolen phone. On the way, he purchased tools necessary for dismemberment, including gloves, plastic bags, and a burlap sack, while also borrowing a saw from someone else without revealing his intentions.
The dismemberment was executed with chilling precision; the suspect divided the body into six parts, separating flesh from bone. He even preserved one of the pieces in the refrigerator. Disturbingly, he confessed to cooking and consuming a part of the body the day after the murder, which led to a severe bout of vomiting. This incident prompted his father to send the other children away to conceal the aftermath of the crime.
