Club officials at Al Ahly have initiated negotiations with Swedish club Jais to secure the services of Ivorian striker Ibrahim Diabati. He is currently a top choice for the red fortress as they seek to reinforce their attacking lineup ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
According to sources, Diabati has expressed his willingness to join Al Ahly and has reached a preliminary agreement regarding the personal terms of his contract. The final step involves negotiating a transfer fee with his current club.
In terms of the offer, Al Ahly has reportedly submitted an initial bid of $1.5 million. However, Jais is seeking a fee of $2.5 million. Al Ahly is preparing to present a revised offer to acquire the Ivorian striker in January. The source emphasized that while several European clubs are competing for Diabati’s signature, Al Ahly is making strong efforts to finalize the deal for less than $2 million.
Meanwhile, Danish manager Yes Torp is in discussions with his coaching staff about preparing a quartet of young attackers: Hamza Abdel Karim, Mohamed Raft, Mohamed Zaluk, and Mohamed Haitham. This initiative aims to integrate these players into the first team and bolster the forward position, particularly after the decision to include Raft, Zaluk, and Haitham in the African roster for the current season. This move is considered vital for addressing the shortage of strikers in the first team.
Looking ahead, Al Ahly is set to face Algerian side Chabab Riadhi Belouizdad at Cairo International Stadium this coming Saturday at 6 PM. This match marks the opening round of the group stage in the African Champions League.
