Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
A fire broke out on board a commercial oil tanker off the Omani coast early Tuesday morning, after it was targeted by a projectile while sailing in waters near the Lima area, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
The authority reported receiving a report of the incident, which occurred approximately 8 nautical miles east of the Lima area in the Sultanate of Oman, explaining that the tanker was sailing south when a projectile directly struck it, causing a fire to break out on board.
No party has yet claimed responsibility for the incident, while questions are being raised about the incident’s connection to escalating regional tensions and the security of navigation in the strategic Strait of Hormuz area.
