Hossam Heiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, alongside Dr. Ghada Nour, Assistant Minister for Investment and Foreign Trade Affairs, continued their series of engagements with leading Qatari companies during their current visit to Qatar، aiming to encourage Qatari investments in Egypt.

This visit aligns with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade’s broader strategy to promote Egypt’s diverse investment opportunities، attract more Qatari companies interested in venturing into the Egyptian market.

Among the key meetings, discussions took place with the CEO of Qatar Mining, as well as with the Al Mana Group, which oversees more than 30 companies across various sectors، and the Hassad Food Group, part of the Qatar Investment Authority.

During the session with Hamad Rashid Al Adba, CEO of Qatar Mining, Heiba highlighted recent developments in Egypt’s mining sector، emphasizing government incentives designed to boost investment in this vital industry. Egypt is distinguished by favorable laws and regulations intended to make mining investment more appealing، alongside the rollout of a digital platform dedicated to mining industries, aimed at providing essential sector data.

Egypt aspires to raise mining’s contribution to the national GDP from 0.5% to roughly 5% by 2030. Presentations also featured the Golden Triangle Economic Zone, showcasing advancements designed to facilitate investment in mining-related projects.

Representatives of Qatar Mining expressed keen interest in Egypt’s gold and copper mining sectors، with particular attention on gold refinery investments. The company plans to expand its international investment portfolio by initiating projects in Egypt. Agreements were made to exchange data and hold coordination meetings with relevant authorities to explore mining opportunities further.

Dr. Ghada Nour underscored the Egyptian government’s growing focus on the gold sector، especially activities linked to refining, manufacturing, and enhancing local value addition. Recently, a Prime Ministerial decree established the Supreme Gold Committee، responsible for crafting a comprehensive strategy, coordinating efforts, streamlining procedures, boosting transparency, and attracting significant investments in the sector.

This committee reflects the government’s commitment to expanding gold refining projects and associated industries، with the Ministry ready to collaborate with Qatar Mining to explore potential investment ventures.

Separately، discussions with the Al Mana Group revealed that the conglomerate manages over 30 subsidiaries in industries including manufacturing, agriculture, food production, real estate development, and tourism، representing more than 100 global brands.

Al Mana has existing investment projects in Egypt within the industrial gases sector, operating across multiple sites. The group plans to grow its Egyptian portfolio, focusing on tourism development through hotel construction، and expanding agricultural and poultry production ventures.

Presenters also outlined Egypt’s tourism sector, detailing incentives and national strategies aimed at drawing global investors to this promising industry. The country seeks to double tourist arrivals in the coming years، necessitating increased hotel capacity in line with Vision 2030.

Behind the scenes، the Egyptian delegation engaged with the Hassad Food Group, linked to Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund, which operates in the food security domain. The group plans to raise its share of Egyptian imports for animal feed and explore joint projects in agricultural feed production.

During discussions, Egypt’s agriculture sector was highlighted as a strategic and promising field. Investment opportunities in agriculture and food processing were presented for consideration، with the trade office in Doha coordinating with Hassad Food to provide a database of certified Egyptian exporters، facilitating the group’s goal to expand imports and maintain ongoing collaboration.
